These terms explain what Shape of Headline is, who may use it, what it costs, and what we expect from everyone using it. By using Shape of Headline, you agree to them. Shape of Headline is built and run by Anuj in Bengaluru, under Amriculum Education.

Two people are involved in every account, so some of this is written to parents, who give consent and hold the rights, and some to students, who use the platform. Each heading says which.

1. Who can use Shape of Headline for parents

Shape of Headline is for students in Classes 5 to 12.

Every student account requires a parent or guardian’s consent before it is activated. Nothing on the platform works until that consent is given: the student cannot read, write, or see anything. See our Privacy Policy for how that works and what is stored.

If consent is not given within 7 days of registration, the account and everything entered during registration are deleted automatically.

2. Accounts for parents and students

One account per student. Registration creates one student account and, when the parent approves it, a parent account linked to the email address the student entered. If you have more than one child on the platform, register each of them with the same email address and they will all appear on one dashboard.

Keep your password to yourself. Do not share your login or use anyone else’s. Write to us if you think someone else has used your account.

The class entered at registration is shown to the parent in the approval email, and cannot be changed by the student afterwards. It decides how strictly written summaries are marked. The parent’s email address and mobile number cannot be changed by the student either — a parent can change them by writing to us from the address on record.

3. How the platform works for parents and students

Each day we publish a small number of short news pieces, rewritten in our own words. A student reads one, writes what they understood in their own words, and an automated check gives instant feedback and asks one follow-up question about the piece. A day counts toward a student’s streak only when both the summary and the follow-up are cleared.

The daily window. Opening the first piece of the day starts a 45-minute window. Within it a student may read as many pieces as they like. When it closes, reading and submitting are finished for that day and begin again the next. Sundays are rest days and never count against a streak.

There are limits on how many times a summary can be submitted — per piece and per day — so that the check cannot be answered by repeated guessing.

Parents can see, for each of their children, which days were read, which pieces, the exact words the child wrote, and the result of every check.

4. What it costs for parents

New accounts get 15 days free, counted from the day the parent gives consent — not from the day the student registered. After that, continuing costs ₹600 for 3 months per student.

Paying early adds to the time already held rather than replacing it, so nothing is lost by paying before the current period ends.

When a period ends without payment, the student’s reading is paused. Nothing is deleted: the streak, the reading history and the vocabulary list are kept, and reading resumes where it left off when payment is made. The parent can still sign in and see everything.

There is no automatic renewal and no stored payment method: nothing is ever charged without the parent choosing to pay.

Refunds. If you are unhappy in the first two weeks of a paid period, write to us and we will refund it. After that we do not refund part-used periods, but you can simply not pay again — there is nothing to cancel.

Parents can see all of their own child’s activity. We can see activity across the platform to run the service and improve how summaries are marked.

Summaries that appear copied from an AI tool, or that do not represent genuine engagement with the piece, may not count toward a reading record. Where we believe a child’s safety is involved, we will contact their parent or guardian.

7. What you write for students

The summaries you write belong to you. By submitting them, you allow us to show them to your parent and to use them to check your comprehension and improve how marking works. We do not publish your summaries anywhere, and we do not show them to anyone outside your family.

8. Our content for everyone

The news pieces on Shape of Headline are written by us in our own words, based on reporting from named sources which are shown with each piece. They are for personal use by the student and their family. Please do not republish or redistribute them.

We work hard to get facts right and to check every piece against its source before publishing. If you spot an error, write to us — we would rather hear it than not.

9. Your data for parents

We hold only what we need about your child, we never sell it, and we handle it as required under India’s DPDP Act.

10. Ending your use for parents

A parent can ask us at any time to delete their child’s account and everything in it, by writing to us from the email address on record. We will do it and confirm when it is done. Withdrawing consent has the same effect — the account stops working immediately.

11. Changes to these terms for parents

If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant — the price, or what we do with your data — we will email parents directly rather than only changing this page.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
